The 66th New Centerville Farmers and Threshermens Jubilee will be held Friday through Sunday at New Centerville and Rural Volunteer Fire Company grounds, nine miles south of Somerset on Route 281.

Admission is $5 for adults, and children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free.


Frontier history

The 49th annual Mountain Craft Days will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Somerset Historical Center, 10649 Somerset Pike.

The event will feature historical crafts and trades, first-person interpretations, traditional music and country foods presented by more than 125 craft artisans, musicians and entertainers.

Admission is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 17.

Children younger than 5 will be admitted free.

All’s fair

The American Legion County Fair will be held Friday and Saturday at the fairgrounds, old Route 219, one-half mile north of Ebensburg.

Attractions include farm equipment, agricultural displays, musical entertainment, rides, food vendors and demolition derbies.

One-price admission is $8, which includes parking, rides and grandstand shows.


Dark comedy

Bedford County Players will present Joseph Kesselting’s play “Arsenic and Old Lace” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Sept. 14 and 15 at the visitor center at Old Bedford Village, 220 Sawblade Road.

To be, or not to be

“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare” will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Cresson Lake Playhouse, 279 Shapiro Road, Loretto.

History walk

Johnstown Area Heritage Association will offer a walking tour of lower town at 1 p.m. Friday beginning at the Johnstown Flood Museum, 304 Washington St. in downtown Johnstown.

A downtown walking tour will be offered at 1 p.m. Sunday beginning at the Johnstown Flood Museum.

Cost is $5 or $3 with museum admission.

On the big screen

The Johnstown Film Festival will be held Saturday at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, 101 Community College Way, Richland Township, and Heritage Discovery Center, 201 Sixth Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.

Scene One: A Day at the Movie Studio will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pennsylvania Highlands and includes seminars on filmmaking and a student-work presentation.

There is no fee to attend.

Scene Two: Opening Night will begin at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Discovery Center.

The event will showcase all the films entered in this year’s competition.

Tickets are $8 for JAHA members or $10 for nonmembers.

Art opening

An opening reception for “Stories Told Through Stitch,” an exhibition by the late Hilda C. Fink, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd., Westmont.

The display features a vibrant, colorful collection of fiber works.

A gallery talk with Sally C. Fink, Hilda’s daughter, will be offered at 2 p.m.

The exhibit runs through Sept. 27.

Good cause

The 10th annual Johnstown Super Cruise Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road, Richland Township.

Proceeds will benefit Veterans Community Initiatives Inc.

Wine time

The sixth annual Sandyvale Wine Festival will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Sandyvale Memorial Gardens and Conservancy, 80 Hickory St. in the Hornerstown section of Johnstown.

The festival will feature 16 Pennsylvania wineries.

The event is a fundraiser for Sandyvale Memorial Gardens and Conservancy.

Tickets are $25 per person or $20 each if purchasing two or more tickets online by Friday or $35 at the gate.

Special recognition

A Blue Mass honoring first responders will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, 117 Clinton St., downtown Johnstown.

The Mass is open to all police, law enforcement, public safety, firefighters and EMTs and their families.

• The Birddoggs will perform at 5 p.m. Sunday, followed by Open Mic at 6 as part of the AmeriServ Free Summer Concert Series at Roxbury Bandshell, Franklin Street in the Roxbury section of Johnstown.

Evening in the Round with country and Christian singer Linda Davis and special guests Bill Whyte and Lang Scott will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Playhouse, 7690 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown.
