Some people in the neighborhood might still have their jack-o'-lanterns out, but it's time again for the holiday season. Carroll County is home to a number of holiday events, from old traditions to new celebrations. To help you get the most out of the most festive time of year, the Times is running down some of the biggest events coming up over the next month of nonstop holiday cheer.

Gingerbread Village Festival

Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc., will host its annual Gingerbread Village Festival at the TownMall of Westminster, at 400 N. Center St., starting Friday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 25. The event will feature intricately designed gingerbread houses by members of the community, a raffle for an outdoor train playset, and more. Proceeds from the event will support HSP. Mount Airy Holiday Preview

The holiday season kicks off early in Mount Airy as the downtown shops host this celebration starting at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18. The event will feature sales, hot cocoa, local wines, carriage rides and music by Dapper DJ. For more information, call 301-829-1424.

Festival of Trees

The Shepherd's Staff is hosting its 10th annual Festival of Trees celebration from Friday, Nov. 25 to Saturday, Dec. 10. The event features decorated trees for auction, with proceeds supporting The Shepherd's Staff's programs that help people in need throughout Carroll County. The trees will be on view at the TownMall of Westminster, at 400 N. Center St., from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Festival of Wreaths

The Carroll County Arts Council's Festival of Wreaths is one of the organization's largest fundraisers each year. Come visit intricately designed wreaths of all materials as Carroll artists attempt to outdo their entries last year. The wreaths will be on view at the Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday Nov. 25 through Saturday, Dec. 3 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Dec. 4.

Miracle on Main Street Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony

Westminster's holiday season kicks off on Saturday, Nov. 26 with an annual celebration along Main Street. The evening kicks off at 4:45 p.m. with the Jingle Bell Run, followed closely by the annual Electric Holiday Parade featuring floats and marchers from community organizations from across the county. In addition to the run and the parade, Westminster will host crafts and events at the library from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Westminster Municipal Band Holiday Concert

The Sounds of the Season return at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the Carroll Arts Center, at 91 W. Main St. in Westminster, as the Westminster Municipal Band performs its annual holiday concert. The free concert features classic holiday hits presented as only the municipal band can. For more information, call 410-398-6370.

A Celtic Christmas

A mix of musicians, including Scottish Celtic harp champion Sharon Knowles, Irish guitarist Patrick Egan and performer Laura Byrne from Baltimore will perform at this Christmas concert at Baldwin's Station, at 7618 Main St. in Sykesville. Motown and More Holiday Celebration

Each year, Motown and More visits the Carroll Arts Center for an evening of funky and soulful celebration. The group will perform Christmas hits as imagined by Motown performers, like The Temptations' "Silent Night" and The Jackson 5's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2 at the Carroll Arts Center, at 91 W. Main St. in Westminster. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Big Band Merry Christmas

Enjoy a jazzy Christmas concert as the Carroll County Jazz Ensemble puts together this medley of holiday favorites at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. The concert will feature performers from the ensemble, as well as guests including Mark Runkles on jazz oboe and tenor saxophone, D&J's Dynamite Dance Company, the Three Tenors, the Carroll County Children's Chorus, and more. The concert will take place at Westminster High School, at 1225 Washington Road. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door for adults, and $7 in advance and $10 at the door for children.
