11 a.m.Ski with a Naturalist, a one-hour tour cosponsored by U.S. Forest Service and Greater Arkansas River Nature Association, begins at the sign near Ski Patrol at Monarch Mountain. A naturalist leads the tour on green runs to talk about the history, flora and fauna of the Monarch area. Free and open to all ages and abilities.

5:30-8 p.m. –Free workshop presented by Stephen Dodd, “Cinema at the Crossroads,” at Salida SteamPlant, 220 W. Sackett Ave., is aimed at helping participants interpret and evaluate the classic cinematic creative process. This week features “The Holy Mountain,” a film about Mexican master Alexandro Jodorowsky leading Christ figure Horacio Salinas and other disciples to “the Holy Mountain” where they hope to achieve enlightenment. Restricted to ages 18 and older as the film is rated R. Funding for the workshop is through The William Boddy Passion to Learn Scholarship.
