South Coast Winery will again be holding its Blessing of the Vines event Sunday, April 8. For the first time this year, the event will also feature a food and wine pairing.

As spring blossoms and leaves return to the Temecula Valley's grapevines, South Coast Winery, Resort & Spa will once again seek a blessing for a fruitful season.

This year's Blessing of the Vines will take place from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 8, and will include the traditional blessing from a priest, but visitors will also find something new.

South Coast Winery Marketing Manager Casey Ferguson said guests this year will also participate in a food and wine pairing festival.

"Since it is about the wines we really want to go ahead and have an educational piece where there are booths with different wines and different food pairings along with that," Ferguson said. "Attendees are able to get educated on the wine itself and what it pairs with."

The musical guest for the event this year will be Murrieta-based cover band Guilty Conscience. The band is known for performing a breadth of music that ranges from classic rock to rhythm and blues.

The cost for general admission is $65 and includes a buffet, the food and wine pairing, a glass of sparkling wine for the blessing ceremony, a beverage station, desert and live music.

Members of South Coast's Wine Club will be able to get $10 off the general admission ticket.

Ferguson said there's also a highly popular VIP ticket option for $85, which comes with all the same things as a general admission ticket plus preferred seating on a tiered terrace, private reserved table, private lunch buffet and a specially-selected bottle of wine per two tickets.

Those who want to purchase the VIP tickets may want to act fast, as they're almost sold out.

Ferguson said another change this year is that the event will be age restricted to those 21 and older.

For more information about the event, or to purchase tickets, visit South Coast's website at and select the "events/tours" tab.

South Coast Winery is located at 34843 Rancho California Road in Temecula. Visit them online at or on their Facebook page at
