Wine Weekend Talk Lets savings

The season is here for turkey, stuffing, hangovers, and huge sales. Smart shoppers know that Black Friday through Cyber Monday is the best weekend for buying items at a fraction of their normal cost, including wines.

Black Friday has become one of the biggest sales days of the year for retailers. Whether you are looking to have a party, fill your cabinet for the holidays, or present a gift to a friend or host, consider shopping this weekend.

I suggest popping in to your preferred wine retailer to see what they are offering. Most wine stores feature their specials front and center. For online deals, you can start by looking for your favorite label and region. When you begin shopping, start by knowing your budget and comfort level, it is an efficient way to narrow your search by choosing wines at prices you can afford.

This weekend and every day, Winekloud.com searches all over to find hundreds of special wine deals only available for a short time from wine retailers across the country. Similar to Gilt or Groupon, the site does the searching for you and then gathers all the deals on to their site. Start by seeking out value wines. Right now they are coming from Italy, Spain, Portugal and the United States.

A really good idea would be to buy wines from Napa and Sonoma helping them recover after the awful fires that swept parts of their land last month. Both regions are up and running, welcoming tourists, but many homes and structures were lost and the locals can use help. Also, consider taking a trip there, I love going to wine country this time of year (or any time of year).

Another savings option is joining a wine club. It is a great way to enjoy and share wines from your favorite winery. Wine clubs make the perfect gift for anyone you know that drinks wine, occasionally or on a regular basis. Wine clubs will provide you with a variety of wines delivered monthly or quarterly to your home or office. Most wine clubs produce wines specifically for their wine club members and give them access to limited releases of small production wines, exclusive bottlings, library and large format wines that are not typically found in the marketplace.

This weekend, look for wine accessories on sale, too. There are so many cool gadgets out there. Most wine retailers sell wine accessories. Locally, Attrezzi, in downtown Portsmouth, has a nice selection of wine glasses, openers, decanters and more.

For a wider selection of accessories and wines, visit the online store at wineenthusiast.com on Black Friday potentially saving you upward of 70 percent and as a Cyber Monday tradition, free shipping is included.
