Wine Awards gallery gets paint

TWENTYNINE PALMS — The 29 Palms Art Gallery, 74055 Cottonwood Drive, will be busy for the next two weeks.

An awards reception for the gallery’s members only judged art show will be held there from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 5.

Judge Terry Taylor-Castollo, owner of Taylor Junction Art Gallery, will select winning art which will receive cash awards and ribbons.

Artist Mark Spangenberg will host a Wine and Paint Night at the gallery from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9.

Admission is $35 for members or $40 for non-members.

Spangenberg will give a demonstration and basic instruction for starting and finishing a canvas.

This class is intended for beginners and experienced painters alike. Participants are invited to bring food to share. The gallery will provide coffee, tea and citrus water and some sweet eats.

A complimentary glass of wine is included. Additional wine will be offered for $2 a glass. The event is a fundraiser for the gallery.

Participants should wear painting attire. Space is limited to 20, so early registration is suggested.

Artist Bud Javatilaka will invite youth to join him in a truly unique art class where he combines drawing, music and storytelling to teach drawing skills and the joy of creativity from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 18.
